Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Business

Penn State Brandywine campus invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor of Business/Management to begin January 2022, or as negotiated. This is a 36-week non tenure line, limited term (single year) academic appointment, funded for one year from the date of hire with a strong expectation of appointment renewal for subsequent periods.

This position supports the campus baccalaureate and associate degree programs in business and the premajor curricula for all Penn State business majors. Experience teaching the following courses is desirable: Management Principles, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, Human Resources Management, Strategic Business Planning, Organizational Behavior, and Leadership and Motivation.

The successful candidate will be proficient in teaching contemporary skills for business professionals-- emphasizing the development of individual, group, critical thinking, and presentation skills--through active and collaborative learning. Experience using and teaching Excel and other business software/technology is desired. Business industry experience and previous teaching experience at the collegiate level is preferred, but not required. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching and scholarship interests in one of these areas: African American studies, Latin American studies, Disability Studies. The successful candidate must hold a Master's degree in Business or a related field.

In addition to teaching 12 credits each fall and spring semesters, the position requires:
  • Professional organizations
  • Engaging in scholarly activities to stay current in the discipline
  • Course, curriculum, and program development
  • Providing career guidance, and supervising undergraduate research projects
  • Campus, university, and community service activities


Additional preferences include:
  • Evidence of commitment in active and collaborative learning
  • Instructional use of in hybrid course delivery in multidisciplinary environment
  • Ability/training in successfully advocating for diversity and values of diversity


A successful hire will demonstrate a commitment to and experience in high-quality instruction in a student-centered environment and advocacy for diversity and values of inclusion. Teaching assignments may require teaching day, evening and/or weekend classes as needed.

This position will be filled as a Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor rank. A Masters degree is required to be appointed at the rank of Lecturer. A Ph.D. will be required to be appointed as an Assistant Teaching Professor. This position requires successful completion of standard background checks in accordance with University policies.
