Assistant Director of Athletics-Sports Information

  • As part of the athletics senior management team, the Assistant Athletics Director position will provide direction and oversite for game day operations, hosted tournaments, clinics/camps and rental opportunities. They will also serve as assistant sports information director for specific sports. The incumbent will also serve as the facility operations contact. The Assistant Sports Information Director performs functions associated with oversight of the Georgian Court University Athletic Department's media relations and event operations activities; provides positive promotion of Georgian Court athletics through every available communication outlet and, together with the Associate Director of Athletics for Communications/Operations, is responsible for the production of official publications and maintenance of the Georgian Court University Athletics website ( www.gculions.com ). Other administrative assignments will also be included in the position. In all areas of position, exemplify the Mercy Core Values of Respect, Service, Integrity, Justice, and Compassion.

    Essential Functions:

    Sport Communications (40%)
  • Serve as assistant SID with selected sports (StatCrew and/or Presto Sports statistics)
  • Responsible for maintenance of gculions.com and all Georgian Court Athletics social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), including monitoring of team accounts.
  • Responsible for submitting CoSIDA Academic Award nominations and other applicable academic awards for sport assignments
  • Assist with training of student-staff on statistics programs for in game management
  • Supervises statistical gathering, reporting, maintenance and historical recordkeeping for sports as assigned
  • Assists the Associate Director of Athletics for Communications/Operations with planning and executing annual Athletics Week of Giving, including team webpage buildout
Event Management (40%)
  • Manage and develop revenue opportunities through facility rentals, special events, camps/clinics, summer activities, hosted tournaments, etc.
  • Manage operations for rentals and camps/clinics/tournaments.
  • Assist with identification of camp/clinic advertisement opportunities.
  • Assists as needed with Athletics annual events including Athletics Hall of Fame, Student-Athlete End-of -Year Athletics Banquet, and Georgian Court Lions Golf Classic
  • Scheduling/supervising of event staff and event set up and breakdown, training & managing of work-study and GCU staff for game day operations.
Administration (20%)
  • Engage in strategic planning with administrative team to enhance and strengthen the department to achieve program goals
  • Review department policies and practices to identify opportunities and implement procedures to enhance department operations
  • Assist and participate in department search and hiring processes
  • Serve as an athletic department resource and liaison to the campus community including serving on campus committees as appropriate
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with all CACC and NCAA rules and regulations as they relate to all job responsibilities
Miscellaneous/secondary Responsibilities:
  • Occasional travel with teams as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required, master's preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience working in collegiate athletic environment (Div II preferred)
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented
  • Flexible hours including some nights and weekends
  • Strong ability to communicate both orally & in writing with multiple stakeholders (administrators, student-athletes, alums, community partners, coaches, etc.)
  • Technologically proficient and adaptable to new technology; social media proficiency
  • StatCrew/Presto Sports statistics preferred
  • Basic graphic design skills preferred (Adobe Creative Cloud)
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division II compliance within the areas of position
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in job performance
  • Excellent computer skills (proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint a must)
