  • Georgian Court University seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Health Sciences and Health Professions. The candidate will teach in the B.S. in Health Sciences and B.A. in Health Professions Studies programs and support internship experiences in the majors, reporting in the Department of Integrative Health & Exercise Science. This faculty member will have teaching expertise in an area of health professions or sciences. The candidate for this position will demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching in various modalities, with a record of academic research and publication preferred.

    This is a full time, tenure-track faculty position in Health Sciences/Professions beginning in fall 2022.

    Essential Functions:
  • Integrate the Mercy core values of respect, compassion, integrity, justice and service in all aspects of interaction.
  • Teach 12 credits per fall and spring semesters (4-4) including Introduction to Health Sciences, Internship in Health Science, and Capstone in Health Science.
  • Coordinate the program internships
  • Regularly participate in course assessment and program assessment and be willing to make improvements in teaching/advising.
  • Teach at the Lakewood campus, Hazlet Campus, off site locations or in evenings as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in all departmental matters, including off site and evening teaching coverage.
  • Teach in lecture, online, or hybrid modalities, as needed.
  • Be willing to teach in The Bridge General education program in department or university-wide offerings as needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues regarding course materials (developing or using common syllabi/course outlines).
  • Participate in scholarly activities in the discipline, such as publications and academic conference presentations, as per tenure guidelines.
  • Mentor students in health sciences and health profession studies.
  • Advise majors in the programs.
  • Participate in departmental functions
  • Participate in enrollment activities such as Open House transfer recruitment events, etc.
  • Engage in university-wide service.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in an area of health professions, sciences or Public Health with a Master of Public Health preferred.
  • A strong candidate will have focus/experience in health care and able to engage with colleagues representing diverse disciplines.
  • Ability to develop partnerships within the local healthcare community to create internship and job opportunities for students. Oversee Health Advisory Council.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching experience at the college level.
  • Ability or willingness to learn to use instructional technologies effectively is essential;
  • Experience assessing learning outcomes in courses and programs.
