Responsibilities

The Visiting Scholar/Practitioner for the Canyon House Residency will be expected to;

  1. Lead one LAEP studio and teach in two other LAEP courses, provide one culminating lecture, and collaborate with our students and faculty to amplify their practice-readiness and support our commitment to mentoring underrepresented groups in the field of landscape architecture and environmental planning.
  2. Contribute to LAEP's commitment to support the participation of women in the profession as a mentor and exemplary role model with whom our students may engage.
  3. Amplify our students' exposure to the current practice of landscape architecture and/or environmental planning through the recipient's expertise and experience in the field.
  4. Provide LAEP's undergraduate and graduate students with progressive instruction and professional training in the recipient's realm of practice.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must hold at least one degree in landscape architecture, planning, or a closely allied discipline. Preference will be given to applicants who possess substantial records of scholarship and/or practice, who possess professional licensure in planning or landscape architecture, and/or who have previous teaching experience. All candidates in these fields are welcome, but special consideration will be given to practitioners and scholars who have demonstrated expertise in social and environmental justice. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute through their practice and research to the diversity and excellence of our academic community. The Distinguished Visiting Professorship may be variable in length, preferably for one semester, either Fall or Spring, depending on availability. Residence in the Canyon House may be extended through the summer.
