The University Controller’s specific duties include budget
development, financial and statistical reporting, chart of accounts
and fixed asset management, Banner security, purchase order and
payment authorizations, fiscal year-end processing, debt and
investment portfolio management, grant accounting and the
University and State accounting entries and reconciliations.
The Business Office strives to partner with Academics and Administration to enable Montana State University –Northern (MSUN) to achieve the goals specified in its mission statement. The Business Office is accountable for overseeing all financial activity of the University. We will strive to provide the highest quality of service to our students, the University community, prospective students, and vendors. Montana State University –Northern (MSUN) is a comprehensive, Native American-Serving, Nontribal Institution serving approximately 1000 students in a remarkably large geographic region. It is one of six baccalaureate institutions comprising the Montana University System. The main campus is located in Havre and offers courses leading to degrees in engineering technologies, professional teacher education, business, nursing, and liberal arts leading to certificate, associate, baccalaureate and/or masters’ degrees. Courses and programs are also delivered in Great Falls at our sister institution, Great Falls College-MSU. MSUN emphasizes a range of learning delivery options and responds to the needs of a diverse student body.
The City of Havre is located in North Central Montana, the Big Sky Country, an area known for its outdoor recreational opportunities and wholesome lifestyle. Havre is surrounded by great high plains of grain stretching into Canada to the north, the enormous Fort Peck Lake to the east, the Bear’s Paw Mountains to the south, and the Rocky Mountains and Glacier National Park to the west; there is a pristine environment in all directions. Agri-business, retail stores, medical services, farming, ranching, railroad and education are the local economies. Rail and air transportation are provided by Amtrak and Cape Air. The metropolitan communities of Great Falls, Montana, 120 miles southwest, and Medicine Hat, Canada, 150 miles northwest, offer big city amenities.
