Open Scholarship Librarian

Towson University’s Albert S. Cook Library seeks a dynamic and innovative individual to serve as the Open Scholarship Librarian. Our library is committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse library staff by considering applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. The Open Scholarship Librarian will provide expert guidance in contemporary scholarly communication issues including authors’ rights, open access, research & publication lifecycles, and new modes of publishing for TU faculty, staff, and students. They will devise and maintain a strategy for increasing the pipeline of scholarly content for deposit in TU’s library-managed institutional repository ScholarWorks@Towson with the goal of increasing usage of the repository. This position is a 12-month faculty status position available immediately. MLS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution. Relevant experience, preferably in an academic environment or in publishing. Familiarity with scholarly communication, digital scholarship, and academic publishing trends. Strong creative vision and ability to lead innovative initiatives and services. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish positive and productive collaboration working with diverse audiences and colleagues throughout the library and beyond. Demonstrated excellent organizational, analytical, time management and project management skills. Ability to meet the University’s criteria for promotion and permanent status of library faculty. Commitment to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Commitment to continued growth in areas of responsibility. Rank is determined by qualifications at time of appointment. Serves as an advocate for open access publishing within the library and across the broader campus community. Develops, implements, markets, and promotes established and new open scholarship and scholarly communication programs. Develops and implements a training program for liaison librarians on issues of scholarly communication and open scholarship. Advises faculty, students, and staff on issues regarding open and equitable scholarly communication. Builds a network of campus and system-wide partners for supporting the research lifecycle. Investigates the possibility of improved publishing support systems. Plans and teaches information literacy in liaison area and other disciplines. Evaluates and selects resources for the assigned collection and related areas. This position is a 12-month faculty status position. Librarians are expected to progress successfully along the promotion and permanent status track and participate fully as members of the library faculty. Department of Kinesiology
Assistant Professor in Kinesiology (2 positions)

Two tenure-track, 10-month Assistant Professors in the Department of Kinesiology beginning August 2022. One position will service sport management-related courses and one will focus on human performance, physical activity, coaching and leadership-related courses. Research Doctoral degree in a Kinesiology-related field (e.g., Sport Leadership, Sport Sociology, Human Performance). ABD applicants considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2023. Evidence of scholarship agenda focused in an area related to coaching and leadership; sport management; socio-cultural aspects of sport; physical activity; human performance. Training and expertise to teach Kinesiology courses to diverse learners in one or more of the following areas: fitness and physical activity; sport philosophy and culture; sport leadership; sport administration; sport coaching; human performance. Primary responsibilities include: 1) TEACHING – research active instructors teach 6 units over a 10-month academic year in a highly diverse, student-centered program; provide high quality instruction in a variety of kinesiology courses; advise and mentor students as they matriculate through the program and prepare to enter the profession; 2) SCHOLARSHIP – development/continuation of a focused area of scholarship that includes refereed publications, professional presentations, external funding, and involvement in scholarly projects with faculty and students; 3) SERVICE – active service participation at the Department, College, University, Profession and community levels. Department of Nursing
Assistant Professor or Associate Professor

The Department of Nursing invites established nurse scholars and clinicians, and promising faculty applicants for tenure-track appointments beginning August 2022. The Department seeks to fill five faculty positions at either the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank. A research Doctorate with expertise in a respective specialty area is required. Evidence of an active research agenda is also required. Candidates should have experience working with a diverse population ABD applicants considered, with appointment at the Instructor rank; all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2023. All candidates are expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Maryland is required. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. JESS AND MILDRED FISHER COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS
Department of Computer and Information Sciences
Assistant Professor (2 positions)

Two full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor positions in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences beginning August 2022. Ph.D., or comparable terminal degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. Strong candidates in all areas of computing will be considered, candidates with an expertise in system and/or network security, secure coding, forensics, and reverse engineering are strongly encouraged to apply. The CIS department has research and teaching strengths in all the above areas, and we are looking to grow our research cluster. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop strong research programs, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, apply for external funding, and participate in department activities. Department of Chemistry
Assistant Professor, Inorganic Chemistry

Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Inorganic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry beginning August 2022. Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry or closely related chemical science field. Individuals with postdoctoral experience are strongly encouraged to apply. The department is particularly interested in candidates with the ability to teach upper-level inorganic chemistry as well as general chemistry. Candidates with experience in experimental and/or computational organometallic chemistry or bioorganometallic chemistry with overlapping interests in interdisciplinary research including those at the interface of catalysis, coordination polymers, forensics, machine learning, and data science are particularly encouraged to apply. Salary shall be commensurate with experience. Teach undergraduate lecture and lab courses, including upper-division inorganic chemistry, general chemistry, and potentially other courses as assigned. Establish a competitive research program that engages undergraduate students in related areas of inorganic chemistry as mentioned above. Pursue external funding and disseminate research findings in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations. Faculty members are assigned an instructional workload of six (6) courses per academic year for the first year.
