About the University:

California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) opened in 2002 as the newest campus in the California State University system. The School of Education at California State University Channel Islands serves students, families, and communities by effectively preparing culturally-competent teachers and leaders who work collaboratively to inspire learning and promote equity in and through education.

About the Position:

This science methods instructor position is in the multiple subject credential program and will prepare teacher candidates with the theory, practice and methods of teaching science with elementary school children in classrooms.

Minimum Degree Requirements:

A Masters degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution.

Required Qualifications:

• A Masters degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of three years of recent and relevant teaching experience in culturally and linguistically diverse settings.
• Appropriate academic preparation for specific course content.
• Record of high quality teaching and commitment to student success.
• As a condition of employment, this position will require a background check. The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
• Applicants should demonstrate the commitment to effectively work with and engage a diverse student population and evidence of how they would successfully mentor minoritized students with special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in education or a related field.
• Evidence of recent and relevant effective university teaching.
• Experience teaching online.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include designing, preparing and implementing lessons regarding science methods as it applies to teachers, as well as grading and providing feedback to students on their work.
