Position Title

Instructors - Art History Survey (Part-time Semester)

Additional Information

The School of Art at Ball State University seeks part time instructors to teach AHS 100 Introduction to Art, a global art history survey that serves as a required class in the University’s core curriculum. Successful candidates may be hired to teach between one and three sections and this class operates in both online and in-person modalities. Course development support and pedagogical mentoring will be offered.

The School of Art at Ball State has forty full-time faculty and offers state-of-the-art facilities serving over 550 undergraduate majors as well as a growing graduate program. Programs at the BA, BS, BFA and MFA levels include animation, art education, art history, ceramics, drawing, glass, graphic arts management, intermedia art, metals, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and visual communication/graphic design. Housed in the Art and Journalism building, School of Art students enjoy over 57,000 square feet of world-class facilities, a nationally ranked animation program, the Atrium Gallery, and the Glick Center for Glass. Students and faculty work closely with David Owsley Museum of Art on campus, among the finest university art collections in the nation. Description

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in art history (or related field, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in art history) from an accredited college or university completed by start of appointment. At least one semester of experience teaching at the college level.

Authorization to work in the US

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD or ABD in art history (or related field, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in art history) from an accredited college or university by start of appointment. More than one semester of experience teaching at the college level.
