Williams College is seeking a creative, organized, motivated and personable candidate to join the ‘68 Center for Career Exploration! The Communications & Events Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Operations & External Relations to develop and execute the strategic development and scheduling of brand management/marketing for the ‘68 Center. This includes outreach initiatives for both internal and external audiences via email, print, web, and social media distribution channels to support the mission of the ’68 Center for Career Exploration.

In addition, the Communications & Events Coordinator will also work with ’68 Center staff to plan and coordinate Center events and career treks, both virtual and in-person when appropriate. They will also oversee an office-wide calendar of events and support ‘68 staff with event coordination and logistical needs for alumni panels, workshops, and speaker series.


Responsibilities

Communications
  • Creates and implements strategy to market ’68 Center events and employer engagements, including student event notifications via Handshake, Daily Messages, Social Media, and weekly Career Center email messages
  • Develops and executes plans for brand management/marketing and outreach initiatives for career communities and the alumni mentoring program (EphLink) which serves students and alumni
  • Works closely with all staff to develop student, alumni, and employer supporting marketing materials, focusing on signature programs and events, student stories, alumni and professional network connections, and graduate outcomes
  • Collects and analyzes data on the effectiveness of communications and outreach initiatives; assess current marketing practices via focus groups and implementing adjustments for improvement
  • Supervises and manages student employees who assist in marketing the ‘68 Center’s brand, including overseeing social media creation and content
  • Supports the Manager of Alumni & Parent Programs via the production of the annual Alumni Sponsored Internship Program (ASIP) digital program booklet, in collaboration with the Donor Relations and Web teams
  • Produces and edits the Center’s quarterly newsletter and coordinates subscriber growth (which includes parents, staff, faculty, employers, and alumni)
  • Manages the website content and troubleshoots all problems with website functionality for the ‘68 Center staff
Events
  • Oversees office-wide calendar of events for the ’68 Center Career Communities, internship, and Career Preparation programming
  • Supports ‘68 staff with in-person and virtual event coordination needs for alumni panels and workshops including but not limited to Zoom/GoogleMeet scheduling, room scheduling (as needed), food coordination, and general event consultation
  • Assists ‘68 Center Career Treks as a liaison to food services, transportation, and lodging booking/scheduling as needed
  • Collects and analyzes data on event attendance and trends; assess and implement adjustments for improvement
  • Schedules and serves as a ‘68 Center representative at tabling events and open house to promote programs and services
  • Manages office-wide swag closet and distribution process


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, 2 years of professional experience
  • Demonstrated ability to determine best use of communications tools to build and engage audiences, experience with email marketing and social media campaigns required
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with a diverse clientele
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team player in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible, resourceful, and organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Appreciation for and understanding of the liberal arts experience
  • Excellent computer skills (PC and Mac), including experience with Microsoft Office and Wordpress, comfortable learning new programs and technologies
  • Design and production of print and digital material/working knowledge of Creative Suite programs is a plus (InDesign, Photoshop, etc,) ideal
Typical working hours are M-F 8:30am-4:30pm. Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends, although minimally.
