Career Services / Student Employment Specialist



Position Summary: Serves as the primary contact for the offices of Career Services and Student Employment and all customers, internal and external; greets customers, determines reason for visit and directs guests to the reception area; answers general questions in the areas of career advising, employer relations, and student employment while providing accurate information and assistance either over the phone, through email, and in person. Collects, sorts, and distributes mail; performs administrative support tasks such as proofreading, transcribing handwritten information, and operating calculators or computers to work with purchasing card reconciliation and online office supply orders. Communicates with a diverse constituency at all levels of the University. Assist Student Employment by sending new hire emails, collecting first day paperwork, and completing the I-9 process with students. Minimum Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be customer service-oriented. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, email/calendar, and internet applications. Ability to multi-task and work under minimum supervision, and must have excellent attention to detail, follow-up, and decision making skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Some college education preferred; previous front desk reception or administrative experience preferred; experience in a job posting, resume, student record management, or human resources system preferred.
