A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a Network Database Administrator. The position reports to the Director of Network Operations and is responsible for the environmental aspects of database, database systems, files, and file storage systems used on the ATSU network. This responsibility includes administration, monitoring, security, capacity planning, data archival, backup and recovery. This position covers all ATSU users for all schools, programs, and services. It is a position that will focus on making sure all systems stay in compliance with all regulations and policies. This position also is tasked with making sure database systems are well designed and capable of peak performance.

This position may be performed as a remote worker.

Major Job Duties
  • Recovery - creating and testing archival, backup, and recovery of databases and file systems

  • Integrity - verifying or helping to verify data integrity

  • Security - Defining and/or implementing access controls to the data

  • Availability - ensuring optimum uptime

  • Performance - ensuring optimum performance given budgetary constraints

  • Development and Testing Support - helping software developers and engineers to efficiently utilize the database and file systems

  • Maintain Core Infrastructure monitoring systems, redundancy, and analyze systems to make recommendations for improvements

  • Assist with testing and certification of updates on Server infrastructure

  • Work with and maintain relationships with vendors/partners

  • Address other technical issues and duties as assigned

Required Skills or Experience
  • Four year college degree with a major in Computer Science or Information Technology required
  • Knowledge of SQL (Structured Query Language)
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Archive, backup and recovery methodologies
  • Business continuity planning
  • Microsoft server operating systems
  • Network security
  • A working knowledge of the OSI model
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical literature
  • Ability to publish technical information
  • Ability to solve practical problems in the field - sometimes under great pressure
  • Database design in SQL, s erver management and security in both a Microsoft Server and SQL Server
  • Network connectivity and setup
  • Disk storage design
