About
Founded in 1916, Sacramento City College ( SCC ) is a multi-campus, urban college that consists of a 70-acre main campus across from William Land Park. The College has two educational centers, one in Davis on the campus of the University of California, Davis, and one in West Sacramento located adjacent to the public library, community center, and civic center. SCC is a vibrant teaching and learning institution with approximately 20,000 day and evening students and is recognized as both a Hispanic-Serving Institution ( HSI ) and an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution ( AANAPISI ).

SCC awards Associate in Arts or Science degrees as well as Associate Degrees for Transfer, which guarantee transfer into the California State University system. Position Summary
This position will engage the campus community in the development and advancement of sustainability goals, policies, and programs; will coordinate and support sustainability efforts through equity, partnership, and collaboration; will help create a baseline to monitor sustainability performance towards energy conservation and the effects of global warming; will cultivate relationships towards a culture of sustainability and regeneration. N/A Assignment Responsibilities
Responsible for working on a variety of tasks including office work; performing data entry with a high level of accuracy; creating accurate documentation and reports in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; following instructions for data collecting methods and assessment; helping implement ‘green’ policies and the campus sustainability master plan; assisting with outreach efforts across campuses to energize sustainability awareness; participating in sustainability events; educating faculty and staff about waste disposal practices through oral (presentations) and written communication; managing waste disposal practices under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations; assisting faculty with the integration of sustainability in curriculum; managing social media announcements and other projects under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations and Public Information Officer; leading diverse groups of students and/or volunteers at sustainability events while adhering to the campus’ policies for behavior and safety; using campus vehicles and property responsibly; recognizing strength in different perspectives through the lens of equity and inclusion; recognizing and addressing systemic barriers and inequities; ongoing awareness and implementation of sustainability best practices.

NOTE : Short-term temporary employees shall not be employed for more than 135 days, or 960 hours, whichever is reached first, in any fiscal year.

Total Hrs per Week/Day Special Requirements
Employment is contingent upon meeting the requirements of Los Rios Board Regulation R-8343 , including possessing and maintaining a valid California Driver’s License and passing Defensive Driver’s Training. This position may require operating a District or personal vehicle and using basic hand tools in order to complete assigned work within the scope of the position duties.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience/Education: Three years of experience in institutional and/or environmental sustainability and two years of knowledge and/or experience in California High Performing Schools ( CHPS ) and/or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design ( LEED ) projects.

Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement.)

Conditions
Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful clearance from a criminal background check, freedom from tuberculosis, and proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States prior to the first day of work. When education is a requirement for the position, official academic transcripts from the accredited college/university must be submitted within 60 days of hire.

Effective October 1, 2021, all faculty and staff must have received the first dose of the vaccine against the virus that causes COVID -19 and effective December 1, 2021, all faculty and staff must be fully vaccinated in order to:
  • be physically present on District premises for an extended amount of time, generally more than 15 minutes
  • or participate in District activities for an extended amount of time, generally more than 15 minutes
  • or be inside a building or office

unless they receive an approved medical exemption or religious accommodation.

All new hires must be fully vaccinated or receive an approved medical or religious exemption within forty-five (45) calendar days of hire. Within seven (7) calendar days, all new hires must show proof they have received the first dose of a two-dose vaccine, or one dose of a one-dose vaccine, or have applied for a medical or religious exemption.
