About the Opportunity:
The Office of Prevention and Education at Northeastern (OPEN) is seeking an Assistant Director for Health Education. The Assistant Director for Health Education will be a member of a collaborative team responsible for prevention, education, and training related to: alcohol and other drugs, sexual violence, sexual health and other wellness-related initiatives for the Northeastern University student community.

Responsibilities:
The role includes assisting in implementing a comprehensive, research-driven, culturally relevant, and in-depth prevention programming to create long-lasting change for the campus community. The Assistant Director will provide customized presentations to students, faculty and staff on topics related to alcohol and other drugs, sexual violence prevention and other wellness related topics.

They will create educational content, campaigns and resources related to health and wellness and support OPEN's peer education team. The Assistant Director will also act in a direct service role providing assessment and brief intervention services for students referred for alcohol and other drug use.

Specifically they will:

• Create educational materials and campaigns related to alcohol and other drugs, sexual health, sexual violence prevention and other wellness-related topics that are data driven and developmentally appropriate for college-aged students
  
  
• Create and provide educational sessions for Orientation, Freshmen Experience/other academic classes, fraternities and sororities, athletes and any other student groups that request an OPEN program
  
  
• Manage OPEN's social media accounts and edit OPEN's website
  
  
• Support OPEN's peer education program
  
  
• Provide alcohol and other drug assessment and brief intervention services (BASICS) to students referred by OSCCR, Residential Life or who are self-referred
  
  
• Facilitate weekly alcohol psychoeducational groups
  
  
• Train and supervise graduate assistants and work-study students as needed
  
  
• Provide operational and administrative support for both sites staffed by OPEN (Main office and Sexual Violence Resource Center)
• Support program evaluation efforts
  
  Qualifications:
  
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, counseling, public health, marketing and communication or related field
  
  
• Experience working with young adults or college-aged population
  
  
• Experience working with diverse groups including, those identifying as BIPOC and LGBTQ, international populations, and other under-represented populations.
  
  
• Experience with utilizing data to develop health campaigns and/or other prevention programming
  
  
• Experience with curriculum development and assessment
  
  
• Experience with social media and content creation
  
  
• Sophisticated understanding of how intersectionality, privilege, and socioeconomic status relate to issues around alcohol/other drugs, sexual violence, sexual health and wellness
  
  
• Ability to take initiative
  
  
• Strong organizational skills
  
  
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  
  Salary Grade:
