    Department Summary

    The Office of Strategic Communication (OSC) is responsible for leading and managing the university's marketing, public relations, and media relations activities to advance the university's mission, core values, and strategic directions. The OSC is challenged to develop top-flight external relations and internal communications programs targeting the institution's diverse constituencies and to develop successful marketing and public relations efforts that enhance the image and visibility of California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB). By promoting the strengths and accomplishments of CSUSB to regional, national and international audiences the OSC plays a critical role in advancing the University and cementing CSUSB's reputation as a preeminent center of intellectual and cultural activity in Inland Southern California.

    Job Summary

    This position serves as the visual content leader and developer for CSUSB. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communication and Brand Management, the Senior Digital Creative Content Strategist works collaboratively to conceptualize and produce high-quality visuals across various media platforms that support the communications strategy and goals of CSUSB. From creating effective digital assets for marketing campaigns to innovative branding projects, the Senior Digital Creative Content Strategist is responsible for ensuring creative quality from start to finish for all digital projects while approaching each project with a strategic and innovative mindset.

    Employment Status: Full-time, "exempt", probationary position (with the possibility of converting to permanent).

    Work Schedule

    Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, weekends and evenings may be required.

    Key Qualifications
  • Extensive and in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply expertise in the advanced theories, principles, methods and practices associated with the functional specialty, program, and/or organizational unit, including applicable internal policies and procedures and pertinent laws and regulations. Laws and regulations are highly complex and require substantial judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying them to the specialty or program area. Incumbents at this level often may have certification in a specialty area.
  • Substantial and broad knowledge of public and private entities including their organizational and operating structures, internal systems, and functional areas, as well as the impact of critical external entities on an organization. Ability to integrate and apply this knowledge to anticipate problems and assess the impact of proposed solutions on various organizational areas.
  • Extensive and in-depth knowledge in project management including research and analytical methodologies. Ability to interpret and integrate complex data and information to formulate appropriate courses of action which have broad and far reaching impact.
  • Ability to understand and analyze complex problems from a future-oriented and broad interactive perspective and readily develop proactive solutions that integrate strategic goals into tactical operations.
  • Ability to effectively use applicable information systems and applications in analysis, research, and reporting activities and projects.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and influence high-level and diverse contacts inside and outside of the CSU system.
  • Ability to effectively use all communication methods and formats and to use expertise, as well as persuasion and negotiation skills, to build consensus to achieve short- and long-term goals and objectives.
  • Must be a strong team leader and presenter who can also dive in and execute work with the team as needed.
  • Juggle and elevate a high volume of branding and campaigns at one time.
  • Must be able to bring innovation and strategy to the company's digital and creative approach.
  • Understand the fundamentals of digital channels and their technical aspects.
  • Collaborative professional approach: the ability to develop action plans inclusively using data-driven information to achieve effective consensus-driven strategies and tactics.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively interact with all diverse constituent bodies of the school as an ambassador.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and the division's established project management software tool.
  • Excellent project and process management skills.
  • Excellent client consultation, interpersonal, negotiation, and teambuilding skills.
  • Demonstrated success in a team-oriented working environment.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs, PLUS five to six years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Be willing to take advantage of professional development learning opportunities.
  • Be a self-starter completing assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Passion for California State University, San Bernardino.
  • Working knowledge of university organizational policies, rules, regulations, procurement, purchasing.
  • Experience in a higher education development or marketing setting is preferred.

Salary:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $6,500 - $7,500 per month

Classification Salary Range: $5,908 - $11,481 per month
