The University of Chicago, one of the world’s leading centers for intellectual inquiry, research, and education, seeks an experienced, inventive and ambitious program builder to serve as the Executive Director of Summer Session and Associate Dean of the College (EDAD).
The EDAD will have a broad mandate to innovate, build and strategically grow the summer session programs, including responsibilities for curricular development together with academic departments; publicity and marketing; hiring and training; oversight of the admissions process; and development of new co- and extracurricular programs.
As an academic administrator, the EDAD will have competencies in multiple areas of higher education management, including student affairs, budget oversight, teaching, and program development at a research university. To fill these roles, the EDAD will work closely with department chairs and administrators; directors of Housing, Dining and Residential Services; Campus and Student Life; College Administration; The Office of Civic Engagement; the Student Health Center; and many others. Reporting to the Dean of the College, the EDAD will supervise a full-time staff of 8 and manage of budget of approximately $10 million.
Education, Experience, and Certifications
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 10+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- Master’s Degree
- PhD in a discipline with an academic department at the University of Chicago.
Experience:
- Prior experience with progressive responsibility in academic administration, budgeting, and program development at the university level.
- Teaching experience in the liberal arts classroom.
