Job Summary

The Purpose of the Patient Service Center Representative is to provide quality and consistent service to patients in the practices or calling in to schedule medical appointments and coordinate procedures. Ability to multitask is essential.

Essential Functions

• Exceptional customer service skills required at all times.

• Schedule patients accurately and completely and offer appointment alternatives when needed. Accurately gather patient demographics, insurance and/or financial information to establish patient's account, financial and billing data for the purpose of expediting third party billing and collection self-pay balances. Scheduling duties include the prompt and courteous answering of multi-line phone system training calls as needed. Listens carefully and communicates clearly.

•Manages interaction from the customer's point of view. Ensures and respects patient/family and customer confidentiality; makes necessary interaction to accommodate the diverse needs of our patients, families and customers. Admin duties as assigned, including but not limited to: new patient packets, scanning, updating, registering as well as scanning all prior patient records. Ability to multitask is essential.

•Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent speaking voice; proper grammar, diction, enunciation and tone Excellent listening and organization skills; ability to multi-task.

•Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written within all levels. Ability to work with others in a close manner; teamwork is essential. Ability to adapt to change and meet the unexpected needs and demands. Must be accountable, dependable, independent, motivated, punctual, reliable and flexible. Must exhibit excellent work ethics and maintain honesty and integrity. Other duties as assigned. The duties listed above are not all-inclusive.

Required Qualifications
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • At least 1 year of experience
Preferred Qualification
  • Minimum of one year of experience in customer service, preferably in a high volume administrative or medical setting.
  • Call center experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in PC use and applications such as MS Office Word, and Outlook; data entry. Working Knowledge of EMR and scheduling systems; Epic preferred. Medical terminology and bi-lingual preferred.
