This position is part-time up to 20 hours per week.

Position Overview:

The Talent Management intern will gain experience coordinating applicant, faculty, and staff experiences for our Talent Acquisition, Talent Development and Employee Relations teams. This is a hybrid role in which you will support talent management projects, execute human resources processes and reports, and gain valuable experience in partnering with leaders across campus to support recruitment, hiring, developing and retention of a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent ready to serve our community and students.
The Talent Management intern will have strong visibility, displaying excellence, integrity, reliability, and innovation as they solve problems, support employee advocacy, and encourage fresh ideas that retain UCO’s reputation as an employer-of-choice.
This position reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of Talent Management and can work up to 20 hours a week with a final working day on or around April 29th, 2022. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

In this role, you can expect to learn how to…
  • Promote and advertise the institution to attract a diverse pool of candidates through a variety of projects, campaigns, and mediums.
  • Work with others throughout Talent Management to develop and/or maintain reports and dashboards that deliver human resources related metrics.
  • Partner with others throughout Talent Management on projects and programs to improve on-boarding, retention, equity, inclusion and engagement across campus.
  • Execute relevant talent management sections within our HRIS system, Paycom.
  • Contribute to communication and event strategies.
  • Participate in the design and execution of UCO’s talent management processes/phases (e.g., recruitment, performance management, succession management, career development, employee advocacy, etc).
  • Perform ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed.
College/Department Overview:

The Talent Management intern works inside of the Talent Management Department, which is part of the larger Human Resources department. Talent Management is eleven (11) distinct roles that work together to empower UCO employees to bring their best selves to work every day. This role will require someone who enjoys working as part of a team inside of a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

Must be a current UCO student working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree that will be returning to UCO as a student for the Spring 2022 semester.
Clear familiarity with HR / people & culture concepts.
Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience Preferred:

Significant preference will be given to UCO students seeking a degree in HR, Business, Public Administration, Talent Development, or Organizational Leadership. Strong grammar and communication skills are necessary. Knowledge of Banner, Paycom systems and/or HR processes are a plus. Experience with InDesign, Cava, and/or Illustrator is a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Speaking/Writing - Ability to effectively express ideas, instructions, and concepts; Ability to speak and write effectively and clearly. Excellent interpersonal relationship and customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with staff/faculty, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Judgment and Decision Making - Practices critical thinking. Balances logic with compassion through the lenses of consistency and sustainability. Ability to understand relevant university policy and procedure.

Social Perceptiveness - Demonstrates good human relation skills to establish and foster good relationships throughout entire university community. Must consistently display servant leadership. Practices active listening.

Fast Paced Environment - Ability to keep a positive attitude during stressful situations and keep up with multiple projects. Proficient use of personal computer and ability to quickly learn and utilize the university software program and systems in the performance of regular duties.

Integrity - Job requires a high level of respect, ethical decision making, confidentiality and honesty. Must be willing to sign and comply with a standard confidentiality agreement, as do all those employed within UCO’s Human Resources team.

Reliability - Job requires strong sense of follow through with care and excellence.
