Environmental Policy/Environmental Studies at Chapman University
invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor
beginning August 2022.
The successful applicant will be part of an interdisciplinary
program that draws from expertise in Wilkinson and Schmid Colleges.
This position will hold joint appointments in both Wilkinson (51%)
and Schmid (49%) Colleges. The successful candidate will be able to
teach Introduction to Environmental Policy, upper division
electives in environmental policy and/or environmental humanities,
and will engage actively with students in the Environmental Science
and Policy major and Environmental Studies minor.

Qualifications
Wilkinson College and Schmid College seek a tenure track
Assistant Professor in Environmental Policy/Environmental Studies,
who will teach course to support the Environmental Science and
Policy major and Environmental Studies minor, with an active
research program in areas including but not limited to:
• Environmental justice
• Climate issues
• Environmental health
• Sustainability governance
• Urban planning
• Water policy
Wilkinson and Schmid Colleges value candidates who can identify
avenues for collaboration both within and outside of the
institution, and include students in their research.
Requirements include a Ph.D. in a relevant field from an accredited
University at the time of hire, evidence of promising scholarly
work, effective and innovative teaching, and a commitment to
diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead a rigorous research program and teach courses to support the interdisciplinary B.S. degree in Environmental Science & Policy (www.chapman.edu/esp) and the Environmental Studies minor (https://www.chapman.edu/wilkinson/interdisciplinary-minors/environmental-studies.aspx), and additional courses based on the candidate’s field of expertise. Tenure track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda for future tenure consideration and are evaluated on their research/scholarly activity, teaching and service.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Chapman
