The Department of Teaching and Learning in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education at Florida International University, invites applications for a nine-month, full-time, Open Rank Professor position in Kinesiology and Exercise Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning, for an anticipated start date of August 12, 2022.

Minimum Qualification:

-Doctoral degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Biomechanics, Applied Physiology, Human Performance or closely related field

Desired Qualifications: 

-Expertise in strength and conditioning

-Ability to conduct successful independent and collaborative research 

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses

-Interest in collaborating with current program faculty, faculty and other departments across FIU (e.g., Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, Dietetics and Nutrition, Athletics, etc.,)

-Demonstrated commitment to addressing issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion 

-Experience with and commitment to community, national and international enterprises dedicated to improved health, wellness and human performance

Responsibilities: Teach graduate, and sometimes undergraduate, courses in Kinesiology and Exercise Science with expertise in Strength and Conditioning. Specifically, teach two courses in the Department of Teaching and Learning during Fall and Spring semesters. Contribute to the Department, College, and University through service and committee involvement. Other responsibilities may include some or all of the following:

-Facilitate or contribute to program accreditation and assessment processes (e.g., CAEP, FL Dept. of

Education)

-Revise courses as needed based on local and national changes to Kinesiology and Exercise Science.

-Work with undergraduate and graduate program leaders when appropriate 

-Contribute to ongoing programmatic development within the Kinesiology and Exercise Science program

-Teach graduate-level courses and supervise and mentor graduate students. 

-Other responsibilities and or/special projects as assigned by the Chair of the Department
