The Administrative Assistant provides advanced and diversified administrative and secretarial support services to SCB Department Chairs and department faculty as assigned with priority given to the work of the Department Chairs. Responsibilities include coordination of daily office activity; communication of policies, practices and procedures for department(s); purchasing and maintaining the operating budget records for department(s); computerized data management; use of electronic mail; maintenance of department, student and course files; oversight of undergraduate student workers; working closely with graduate assistants; and compiling information for research and special projects.

Required Qualifications:
1. Completion of commercial courses related to secretarial, general office and administrative skills, or demonstrated equivalency through work experience.

2. A minimum of two years of experience in an administrative environment including office oversight responsibilities and experience with financial record keeping. Prior college/university experience a plus.

3. Personal computer proficiency for word processing, spreadsheet, data management, and web search. Knowledge of Microsoft Office required, including Outlook. Experience with Colleague a plus.

4. Strong oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of individuals, both inside and outside the university community.

5. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card. Preferred Qualifications: Hours Worked
