Call for Application and Nomination for the Dean of the College of Engineering, National Tsing Hua University

 

The College of Engineering (CoE) of National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) invites application/nomination for the Dean of the College. The new Dean will join the highly acclaimed CoE with an outstanding community of faculty members, students, and staff starting August 1, 2022. The appointment, along with the award of an engineering chair professorship, will be three years for one term and may be extended for another term based on a review led by the President of NTHU.

 

About NTHU and CoE

NTHU was established in Beijing in 1911 and re-established at its present location in Hsinchu, Taiwan in 1956. Since its relocation, NTHU has developed into a comprehensive research university offering a full range of degree programs in science, engineering, humanities, social sciences, education, arts, and management. Established in 1972, the CoE of NTHU is ranked among the top 100 engineering colleges in the world. CoE comprises four Departments (Chemical Engineering, Power Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management), two Graduate Institutes (Nano-engineering and Micro-systems and Biomedical Engineering), and an undergraduate Interdisciplinary Program of Engineering. More than one third of our faculty members are awarded the MOST (Ministry of Science and Technology) outstanding research award, which is among the top in Taiwan. The Dean Position

The rapid change of the global environment has prompted vigorous global competition. As the cradle that nurtures the elite of our society, the CoE will take corresponding actions in upgrading and strengthening research, teaching, social linkage, internationalization, and global connection. The Dean will therefore provide visionary leadership and formulate strategic plans for the College to pursue excellence in these areas through collaboration with the College’s faculty and other academic units to further our international standing.

 

The Person

The prospective candidate should possess distinguished record of research, teaching, and scholarship; and demonstrate outstanding leadership, strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork, and excellent communication and networking skills to build internal and external contacts.  A doctoral degree relevant to the current disciplines of the CoE is required.
