Clinical Instructor (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - Family Nurse Practitioner)

Location: Clemson, SC

Clemson University is accepting applications for a Clinical Instructor - Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) on a rotating basis in the Clemson Health Clinic - Walhalla (Oconee County) and the Joseph F. Sullivan Center (Pickens County). Clemson Rural Health is a unique team-based interprofessional team with primary responsibilities to the health and wellness of Clemson employees, training health professions work force, and delivering gap care (primary care and prevention) to underserved and rural communities across South Carolina. We operate brick & mortar clinic sites (both on the Clemson campus and in Walhalla), a fleet of mobile health clinic vans, and virtual clinic visits in the delivery of our mission. The incumbent will work in both our fixed clinics and on a part-time basis rotate on the mobile fleet.

We seek a talented flexible individual to assume four primary responsibilities which include:

  • Deliver clinical care to patients in a team-based patient-focused environment: The FNP will deliver clinical care, within the scope of her/his license, via in-person appointments as well as virtual clinical visits. The FNP will appropriately document care provider within the electronic health record, for continuity of care and billing purposes. The FNP will collaborate with nursing and other clinic staff to support a team-based patient-focused environment. The FNP will support disease prevention, wellness, and chronic disease management in diverse populations.
  • Incorporate the clinic electronic health record (i.e. Epic) and MyChart (mobile health) functionality into the incumbents clinical work flow, adhering to regulatory and compliance standards: The Joseph F. Sullivan Center, Clemson Health Clinic - Walhalla, and Clemson Rural Health efforts (more broadly) leverage our Epic Connect electronic health record. The incumbent will be fully trained and incorporate the use of Epic in the clinical workflow of her/his clinical practice for both in-person and virtual visits.
  • Instruct graduate nursing students in advanced practice nursing: Incumbent will serve as a preceptor and professional role model for Advanced Practice Registered Nursing (APRN) students offering high quality clinical instruction and mentoring within her /his scope of practice.
  • Actively participating and supporting quality improvement projects and preparation for the clinic's professional accreditation. The clinic is currently preparing for professional accreditation in ambulatory care. This requires the incumbent (and others) to actively participate and support quality improvement projects as well as collaborate with the accreditation/quality nurse on efforts aimed at enhancing the patient experience, patient safety and improving overall clinic efficiencies.

Additional expectations:

  • Complete and maintain all required trainings for this position as well as state and federal licensing requirements.
