Position Summary:
The Printmaking Technician is responsible for collaborating with the Head and Chair of the printmaking programs to support all students, faculty and staff in the printmaking lab and adjacent spaces. The primary function consists of maintaining a safe, organized, and professional printmaking lab, while also assisting in the function of print courses and programs. The Technician aids in the operation, upkeep, and improvement of the lab while contributing positively to the overall culture of community and inclusion at Pacific Northwest College of Art within Willamette University.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Collaborate on organization of print lab spaces for classes and
new mediums/processes as needed
- Support a welcoming atmosphere within the printmaking
facility
- Maintain professional relationship with all printmaking
faculty, students, staff, and vendors
- Maintain studio equipment, facilitate repairs, facilitate
cleaning printmaking facility, monitor and maintain studio
safety
- Inventory and organize supplies, fees, paperwork, collections,
storage and monthly accounting reports
- Keep studio supplied: Order, pick up, arrange for delivery of
supplies; mix inks, grounds, acids, and any additional materials
needed for general studio needs
- Manage studio store, sales, inventory and back stock
- Assist dept. Chair, Head, and other faculty/staff as
requested
- Assist supplying and managing materials for visiting artists
and publishing projects
- Assist students with technical and creative issues; visit
classes to give or support demonstrations of best studio practices
(technical and safety)
- Supervise work- study students and studio volunteers
- Maintain Ghost Budget and Vendor List
- Support digital communication board in Lab with faculty and
staff
- Assist in curating and installing print exhibits and student
display areas
- Participate in Printmaking Area & Studio Arts Department
meetings when needed
- Research best professional print practices to facilitate a
sustainable and healthy studio
- Assist with professional practice and curriculum
enhancement
- Assist with documenting programming and student work
- Assist with social media
- Additional departmental tasks may be assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive print lab experience, at least 3+ years working w/
varied print media in a community studio
- Must have excellent communications skills and the ability to
work with a diverse population
- Experience with Point of Sale systems, Adobe, Microsoft Office,
Excel and Google Apps.
- Basic accounting experience
- Must have excellent problem solving skills
- Work independently and patiently
- Multi-tasking skills
Preferred Qualifications
- BFA in print related area
- Extensive experience with printmaking media, including:
Lithography, Intaglio, Relief, Screen-printing, Letterpress,
Bookmaking, and Digital Media.
- General familiarity with power tools, carpentry, and painting
skills
- Safety Training Certification (OSHA)
- Air quality testing knowledge
Salary: $17.17 per hour
Typical Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Some evening and weekend hours may be required on occasion.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Ability to lift and push up to 30 pounds with assistance when requested.
Ability to work standing or sitting for long periods of time.
Ability to bend, stoop, walk, climb, and perform repetitive motions for long periods of time.
