Description

The Whiting School of Engineering at the Johns Hopkins University seeks applicants for a fulltime, teaching track faculty position in decision and data analytics within the Center for Leadership Education (CLE). This is a career-oriented, renewable appointment with full benefits and a clear promotional pathway for applicants eager to work in an innovative and multidisciplinary environment.

The CLE contains several, interrelated academic programs: the Entrepreneurship and Management Program; the Accounting & Financial Management Program; the Professional Communication and Marketing Program (PCP); the Leadership Studies Program; the Professional Development Program (PDP), and the Masters of Science in Engineering Management (MSEM). Faculty in the CLE offer courses in the areas of accounting and finance, leadership, organizational behavior, ethics, operations management, innovation and venture development, marketing, law, professional communication, and engineering management.

Qualifications

CLE faculty are encouraged to apply professional experience to course development, teaching, and translational projects. Successful candidates will have expertise in decision analytics and two or more of the following areas: • Data Analytics • Predictive Modeling • Database Management and Data Ethics • Data Security and Privacy • Data Visualization and Visual Storytelling • Social Media Analytics • For Profit and Not-for-Profit Social Entrepreneurship.

Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching, preferably with full-time teaching experience at the undergraduate level, or in corporate or graduate venues. A terminal degree such as a PhD or MBA is preferred. Other advanced degrees will be considered with professional experience, such as success in a business, consulting, or entrepreneurial environment. Candidates must be engaging, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, and be willing to work collaboratively with colleagues.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
