PROGRAM SUMMARY: KAZU 90.3 FM is a FCC-licensed non-commercial radio station licensed to the University Corporation at Monterey Bay, funded through listener support, and is located on the CSUMB Campus. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the general supervision of the General Manager, the KAZU Support Coordinator provides program assistance and office support to the KAZU 90.3FM station located in Seaside, California. Duties include a wide range of complex administrative support services provided to multiple senior-level news executives in a proactive, detail-oriented and forward-thinking manner within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: Office Operational Support (30%)
  • Responds to callers, responds to email inquiries, provides daily support and coordination for all station departments through phone and email correspondence, schedules meetings and provides support to visitors
  • Is responsible for administrative duties such as filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning
  • Organizes and maintains pertinent shared files that may be used by other members within KAZU.
  • Updates the program/station website, ensuring that the on-air and online content are the same.
  • In collaboration with the General Manager, prepares and updates documentation for station policies & procedures
  • Assists with annual audits and external reporting
  • Assists General Manager with CPB (Corporation for Public Broadcasting) compliance; including data review, analysis, and report preparation for the annual Station Activity Survey for the CPB report
  • Provides Special Project Support & Preparation


Business & Membership Operational Support (30%)
  • Processes daily payments by credit card, bank EFT & check through the station's Blackbaud Raiser's Edge Software program
  • Prepares and reconciles weekly, monthly and annual data files for station donor constituents including data processed through the Raiser's Edge Software program
  • Assists in the processing of the monthly Underwriting Billing through the Allegiance Program Software
  • Provides data analysis support during Annual Fund Raisers and related events
  • Provides ongoing donor gift fulfillment support
  • Provides donor gift acknowledgment mailings including the preparation of written and email correspondence.
Broadcast Support (30%)
  • Primary duties include supporting live and recorded broadcasts of KAZU programming including
  • ENCO Broadcast Playlist Building Support (Main & HD Classical Channels)
  • Prepares On-Air Public Service Announcement Preparation & Maintenance
  • Provides support for the KAZU Community Calendar Maintenance including processing all requested entries
Sales Support (10%)
  • Provides Allegiance Programming Support & Maintenance
  • Provides Underwriting Interface Support (includes Underwriting Spot Placement & Scheduling)
  • Provides Underwriting Reporting Support
  • Provides Underwriting Daily Payment Processing Support
Other Functions:
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
  • Promotes and maintains an atmosphere of excellent internal and external customer service within KAZU and the campus community.
  • Participates in KAZU fundraising activities.
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Typical office environment with standard office and radio equipment and tasks as listed above. The position is required to work at a computer/video display terminal and desk for extended periods of time. The position will require travel between campus offices and off-campus locations within the tri-county area. Must have own transportation, valid driver's license, and auto insurance. This position requires working on campus with students, staff and faculty. The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff remain our highest priority. In the fall, students, faculty, staff, and the community can expect that masks will be encouraged and that the appropriate degree of social distancing will be in place in all areas based on evolving guidance. Additionally, all students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to be vaccinated before coming to campus. Corporation employees will be required to provide their vaccination status by mid-July through an online portal.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge and ability to be fully functional in all technical aspects of work assignments. Ability to work autonomously. Willingness to be accountable for revenue goals on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Must have the ability to work well on a number of projects simultaneously and effectively. Strong communication skills required, including diplomacy, negotiating, writing correspondence and oral presentations to individuals or groups. Must have experience in dealing with businesses, corporations, agencies and foundations on a professional level. Ability to compose and edit correspondence and generate standard reports. Must be familiar with personal computers and have demonstrated technical literacy, including proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, database entry, and maintaining electronic records. Adapts to changes in the work environment; Changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events. Ability to train and supervise student interns and/or volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university AND a minimum of 2 years proven and measurable experience in public radio. Additional experience, which has demonstrated the requisite skills/abilities, may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Compensation and Benefits:
The University Corporation is committed to providing our employees with a comprehensive program that rewards efforts that are appreciated by your colleagues, students, and the customers we serve. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources. The hourly hiring range for this position is $22-$23. This is a non-exempt position and as such is eligible for the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The Corporation offers a rich benefits package that constitutes a major portion of total compensation. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits, contributory retirement plan, TSA (403b), 13 paid holidays per year, and other benefits.
