The Executive Director provides leadership, strategic and visionary direction, and management for library services, including Prescott Memorial Library. This position reports directly to the Chief Information Officer and coordinates with the Provost .

The Executive Director will

  • Provide leadership and foster innovation by ensuring that the information resources, services, and library facilities align with the evolving research, teaching, and learning needs of the University.
  • Promote and advocate for the Library as a hub for student and faculty success and as an essential resource for the University.
  • Participate in the University's strategic planning, assessment, policy formation, and curriculum development as a member of the Council of Academic Deans and the Administrative Planning Council.
  • Provide leadership, as Chair of the Library’s Advisory Council, to envision, articulate, and implement collectively how the Library, in compliance with its research intensive institutional mission, will contribute to achieving the University's strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with the University's Chief Information Officer and the Provost to enhance Library functions, services, and facilities with digital technologies.
  • Collaborate with other University stakeholders to develop and promote open educational resources (OERs) and other information technology applications.
  • Collaborate with the directors of other libraries in LOUIS, the statewide library consortium, to improve access to information, and to envision and implement new digital initiatives.
