Job Summary

This is a position for an individual who will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of specific translational research programs within the department that support the strategic plan of the chair. This individual will closely collaborate with the TRaCES core co-directors (Translational Research and Core Expert Support (TRaCES) - Drexel University College of Medicine). The successful candidate will be involved in the logistic and conceptual organization of the interactions with clinical collaborators/sites in order to maximize productivity of these multidisciplinary efforts and ensure compliance with institutional/federal policies. This trained scientist will also be instrumental in setting up (and eventually manage) a new histopathology core within the department, dedicated to storage, processing, and analysis of clinical samples.

Essential Functions
  • Set up/run/administer new histopathology core
  • Assist Chair with preparation of scientific/financial reports
  • Work with clinical sites and collaborators to collect samples
  • Communicate with IRB office and prepare paperwork
  • Coordinate proper use of specimens internally
  • Meet with PIs to promote interactions & collaboration
  • Introduce/optimize clinically relevant animal models
  • Train junior peers & organize informative sessions
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences
  • Previous experience with IHC techniques and cellular imaging
  • Expertise in cancer metastasis
  • Familiarity with image analysis software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Time management and organization skills
  • Quick study
  • Highest work ethics standards
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral Degree
  • The ideal candidate would have extensive experience in traditional and modern techniques of cellular and molecular physiopathology, histology, microscopy and cellular imaging, and/or drug discovery.
  • They will be able to keep up with, and implement, the many emerging technical innovations in the field of biomedical sciences, and single cell interrogation.
  • Previous experience with brain tissue processing and/or cancer metastasis, as well as methods to maximize use of human specimens for genomic and proteomic purposes is preferred along with self-motivation, commitment to success and innovation, and exceptional organization and communication skills.
