The Creative Writing Program at Indiana University-Bloomington seeks a fiction writer of emerging prominence to join our faculty at tenure-track assistant professor level. We invite applications from writers with expertise in African American, Asian American, Latinx, or LGBTQ literature, and/or whose work address issues of race, class, and gender. We require at least one book of fiction published to critical acclaim in the last five years, and an active publication record. An MFA or Ph.D. in Creative Writing is required at the time of appointment. Expectations include teaching of graduate and undergraduate workshops in fiction, mentoring of young writers, and a commitment to strengthening creative writing at a world-class university. Teachers with a track record of and commitment to mentoring students from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply. Ability to teach nonfiction, science fiction, or fantasy is desirable. Faculty at IUB normally carry a 2/2 annual teaching load, alongside responsibility for thesis advising. This appointment would begin in August 1, 2022.
