POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for developing, maintaining and tracking all lifelong learning and kid’s college programs. This includes the marketing of these program including advertising and public relations activities for all non-credit activities. Working with the area schools to develop after-school programs and camps that will assist in furthering the education of the youth population.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Manage the development, marketing and delivery of Kid’s College, MakerLab, Adult Lifelong Learning Program and various noncredit publicly offered seminars.

2. Ensure that all pre and post seminar paperwork and financial mattes are appropriately accomplished according to College and departmental policies.

3. Prepare all required reports for documentation and budget purposes.

4. Develop new seminars in areas of current interest to JJC district residents.

5. Implement strategies allowing a rapid response to current events or developing topics.

6. Apply psychological principles of message design, media, selection, materials specifications, children and adult learning theory, and perception, memory, behavior and cognitive learning theories to seminar development.

7. Seek out alternate sources of revenue to implement or equip projects.

8. Write grant and foundation proposals working collaboratively with credit departments to maximize use of grant funding to benefit both non-credit and credit programs.

9. Design a comprehensive marketing strategy for each type of seminar appropriate to its target market.

10. Analyze impact of marketing strategies and monitor seminar success/failure on a semester basis.

11. Implement adjustments based upon this analysis and ongoing customer feedback.

12. Provide a leadership role for recommendations to the College regarding website contract pertinent to Lifelong Learning/Community Services.

13. Collaborate with staff and departments to market Corporate and Community Service programs to students, employers and community members; engage in and promote innovative use of technology to market and deliver programs and services. 14. Ensure the integrity of marketing databases. Supervise staff in the addition/deletion/updating of database groups utilized for mailings.

15. Provide recruitment of Corporate and Community Services staff and training instructors, including reviewing credentials, interviewing and recommending employment and other personnel actions, including coaching, documentation and discipline. Evaluate professional and support staff.

16. Promote and facilitate staff development. Work with coordinators in mentoring and development of support staff.

17. Serve as the College’s authorized representative and liaison with training vendors. Supervise a multi-dimensional staff from a project management or team orientation; establish performance measures and internal articulation procedures for workflow; design systems and monitor projects for adherence to timeliness and quality.

18. Monitor departmental budget and expenditures; variance between projected and actual calculations in a cost recovery situation in tandem with Dean, Workforce Education and Training.

19. Recommend new fiscal year budget line items based upon past strategies and future projections.

20. Develop and maintain relationships with faculty/departments, adjunct instructors, business and industry, community agencies (attend meetings with partner agencies); participate in state, federal, regional and college wide events and/or committees.

21. Act as liaison for Kid’s College, MakerLab and Adult Lifelong Learning programs with the college community, public agencies, and community groups.

21. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

22. Assume other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Education or related area.

2. Three (3) years related experience.

3. Knowledge of training and development, adult learning, and curriculum design.

4. Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to coordinate multi-dimensional activities simultaneously; strong marketing orientation.

5. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Good platform and instructional skills.

6. Experience with marketing venues including web-based tools.

7. Evening and/or weekends commensurate with demand.

8. Ability to work well with clients and business customers; must be entrepreneurial, bottom line performance driven, customer focused, and learner centered; able to “sell” and negotiate to achieve mutual goals.

9. Access to transportation for local travel required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Master’s degree.

2. Previous work experience in seminar development and marketing.

3. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.

4. Demonstrated multicultural competence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Normal office physical demands.

2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Duties are performed indoors in the usual office and/or outdoor environment.
