Assistant Professor of Health Science/Healthcare Management

McPherson College’s Department of Health & Sport Science invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Health Science/Healthcare Management beginning August 2022. The position includes curriculum development and teaching responsibilities for public health, health policy, healthcare management, and healthcare finance courses. Additional faculty responsibilities include recruiting and advising students, committee participation, course and program assessment, and service.

The Department of Health & Sport Science’s faculty are committed to preparing undergraduate students for allied health careers or pre-professional graduate programs in health sciences and healthcare management, to providing them an education rich in on-site experiential learning opportunities within a wide range of health care organizations, and to working closely with them as their academic advisor. The successful candidate will articulate how they will contribute to these goals.

Located in central Kansas, McPherson College is a private, residential, liberal arts college of 800 students, of which 60 are currently health science or healthcare management majors. The ideal candidate will possess:

1. A doctoral degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field
2. A demonstrated dedication to excellence in teaching at the post-secondary level and a desire to develop innovative learning experiences
3. A commitment to the promotion and provision of learner-centered education and the infusion of experiential learning
4. An ability to participate collaboratively in the development of course and program curricula and the achievement of program goals and outcomes
5. A dedication to the highest ethical standards in the delivery and distribution of health care services
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business or Public Health
   WITH
2. Two years prior teaching experience OR industry experience in a health-related field OR any combination of equivalent experience
