Assistant or Associate Professor of Marketing

The Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend is seeking qualified applicants for a tenure-track position in Marketing at the Assistant or Associate Professor level starting August 2022. The rank of the position will depend upon experience and qualifications. Candidates from all marketing discipline backgrounds are encouraged to apply, but preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated research and teaching interests in business-to-business marketing, personal selling, and/or retailing with secondary interest(s) in other marketing areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a combination of residential and online courses both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, developing a research program, and carrying out service.

Applicants for the Assistant rank must have
  • A Ph.D. (or DBA) in Marketing by appointment date.
  • A commitment to and ability to achieve teaching excellence
  • A record of research accomplishment


In addition, applicants for the Associate rank must have
  • A minimum of six years of experience
  • An excellent teaching track record
  • A comprehensive research record, including referred journal publications, academic conferences, and other scholarly.


Penn State Behrend is an undergraduate and graduate college of The Pennsylvania State University. The Black School of Business is accredited by AACSB International, listed among the Best Business Schools by Princeton Review, and offers 9 undergraduate majors, a residential MBA delivered at two locations, a Master of Professional Accounting (M.P.Acc.), and an online Master of Project Management (MPM) program, distinctive programs in the country, and an International Business degree, which also allows students to specialize in a functional area such as business economics or finance. The Black School houses the Center for Financial Literacy and the Center for Family Business. Overall, the School supports a growing, all-campus interest in research that addresses issues of women's health, energy and sustainability, and polymer science.

The Black School of Business occupies a new $30 million facility with the School of Engineering providing a basis for multi-disciplinary educational experience for students, interdisciplinary research for faculty, and joint opportunities for industry engagement. The $20 million endowment, market value of which is approximately $44 million today, provides significant support for the school's programs. The endowment helps fund undergraduate scholarships, graduate assistantships, library and information technology resources, outreach activities, several faculty chairs, and endowed professorships, as well as new programming initiatives.

Erie, Pennsylvania is a metropolitan area of more than a quarter million people located on the southern shores of Lake Erie, two hours from Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo. The area's economy reflects a mix of educational, medical, industrial, tourism, and service activity; the region is home to five colleges and universities in the region, including Penn State Behrend. Salary is negotiable and competitive with other AACSB-accredited schools of business.
