Position Summary 

This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position, in the Anthropology department. The primary responsibility of this position is to teach anthropology courses (typically seven 3-credit courses per year), and the secondary responsibilities are to produce research in anthropology and serve students in the anthropology program and the wider campus. The anticipated start date is August 2022. 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Ph.D. in Anthropology by the time of appointment 
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Expertise in public health (Indigenous and/or community health) and cultural perceptions of disease  
  • Teaching or research experience in two or more of the following: mental health, psychological anthropology, health disparities, anthropology of disability, gerontology, and biocultural anthropology  
  • Skills or experience that will complement current departmental strengths and expand our interdisciplinary course offerings, as well as build on college-wide strengths in experiential and innovative pedagogies  

Major Responsibilities 

  • Teach core disciplinary courses, medical anthropology, anthropological methods, applied anthropology, and a willingness to teach courses in Liberal Arts Core/Gen Ed and other interdisciplinary programs   
  • Maintain an active research agenda in anthropology, including peer-reviewed publications and presentations    
  • Serve students in various capacities (e.g. advising, mentoring, directing student research projects, working with student clubs, etc.)    
  • Contribute to service in the department, college, and profession 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities   
  • Maintains knowledge and awareness of digital accessibility including the American with Disabilities Act and Section 508 
  • Produces and remediates digitally accessible materials in accordance with FLC standards 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Compensation  

The salary is $58,000 plus a comprehensive benefits package.  The anticipated start date is in August 2022.
