Assistant Professor of Theology [start Fall 2022]
Dominican University, a Catholic Hispanic serving
institution, invites applications for a full-time Tenure-Track
position in Hispanic/Latino/a/x/e
Theology at the Assistant Professor level beginning
in Fall 2022. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate
their support of the university's Catholic
Dominican Hispanic serving mission, excellence in
teaching, and potential for scholarship. Teaching load is 3/3 and
includes opportunities to work with undergraduates who are
preparing for ministry, to participate in the Latin American
and Latin@ Studies minor, to teach in the interdisciplinary seminar
programs which lie at the heart of the University’s undergraduate
core curriculum, and to work collaboratively with
university ministry on new and ongoing initiatives
in Hispanic Ministry and Theology.
As a diverse, Catholic HSI institution, we are seeking an
individual who can demonstrate effective engagement in an
environment where colleagues and students come from many
backgrounds and identities, as well as someone who can demonstrate
commitment to equitable and inclusive teaching and research
practices. A successful candidate will demonstrate a strong
commitment to inclusive and relationship-centered teaching and
advising, which affirms the dignity of the human person and concern
for the common good. Candidate must be willing to
provide students with opportunities to participate
in high impact practices. All faculty members are expected to
participate in university life and governance, as well as
continuing professional development and scholarship.
Qualifications: Required
qualifications:
PhD in Theology, or other terminal degree in Theology/Ministry
such as a D.Min., Th.D., or STD (ABD considered).
Commitment to the Catholic and Dominican mission of Dominican
University, and the capacity to help us articulate,
theologically, our reality as a Catholic HSI.
Teaching experience
Potential for research and scholarship in Hispanic/Latino/a/x/e
Theology and Ministry
Preferred qualifications:
Bilingual in Spanish and English
Experience teaching racially minoritized students and
demonstrated experience creating, organizing, and/or leading
programs for minoritized student populations.
Experience in Hispanic/Latino/a/x/e ministry
