Executive Director of Institutional Advancement & the MVCC Foundation

Salary: $90,000's

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues. MVCC is seeking to fill a full-time Executive Director of Institutional Advancement & the MVCC Foundation position in our Institutional Advancement Office . The Executive Director of Institutional Advancement & the MVCC Foundation is responsible, as the College’s Chief Advancement Officer, for developing and implementing all fundraising and development programs. The Executive Director of Institutional Advancement & the MVCC Foundation works with the President, College officers, department heads, members of the Board of Trustees, and Board of Directors of the MVCC Foundation to maintain and expand collaborative College-wide development efforts.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  1. Engages with all members of the college and the community we serve in a manner that is welcoming, friendly, respectful, cooperative, and collaborative;
  2. Serves as a role model for the institution with regard to infusing strengths-based positive leadership and supervision that helps nurture and shape a high-performing, vibrant and inclusive Institutional Advancement team;
  3. Maintains and successfully cultivates a portfolio of planned and major gifts prospects and donors through the use of various printed and electronic media, personal visits, and cultivation events; works with various staff to implement these plans;
  4. Oversees the financial health and integrity of the MVCC Foundation and develops an annual operating budget in conjunction with the Institutional Advancement staff;
  5. Maintains healthy relationships with members of the MVCC Foundation Board of Directors, manages regular Board meetings, and cultivates prospective members;
  6. Maintains an awareness of and solicits support for College priorities;
  7. Advances the College’s community position through relationships with various funding sources as needed, such as state officials, alumni, major donors, and community business partners, and in collaboration with the College President;
  8. Oversees the MVCC Foundation’s scholarship program including securing new scholarships and selecting scholarship recipients;
  9. Provides information and guidance to the MVCC Board of Trustees and the College President, as requested;
  10. Oversees the coordination of external grant applications and assists College departments and programs to identify and maximize the resources and support required to advance grant-seeking efforts;
  11. Oversees the MVCC Alumni Association Board of Directors and supports related activity of the Association; and
  12. Performs other duties as directed by the President.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and additional experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressively successful fund-raising experience with a proven record of success across a wide range of constituencies and endeavors, and
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Successful experience in capital campaigns, donor acquisition and retention strategies, planned and major gifts, grants, alternative revenue development, and
  • Commitment to the Mohawk Valley region strongly preferred
