Assistant Professor and Chair of Education

The Education Department at Thomas More University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor who could also perform the tasks of chair of the department. In alignment with the University’s teaching and service goals, the Department seeks individuals who have a strong commitment to the mission of the University and its dedication to a liberal arts education.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include chairing the department of education, including the undergraduate and graduate program, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising, contributing to reciprocal partnerships with schools and with University programs, participating in ongoing program development, and providing service to the department, University, professional associations, and community partners.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in education or closely related field
• Five years of experience teaching in K-12 settings
• Advanced training in elementary education
• Ability to work well with colleagues and participate in collaborative programming
• Evidence of, or desire for, community engaged partnership experiences with schools
• Evidence of a commitment to equity and social justice
  
  Preferred Qualifications
• Previous chair or leadership experience
• Accreditation experience
• Successful teaching experience in teacher preparation programs
• Evidence of incorporating technology in instructional practices 
• Experience in mentoring graduate students
