Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide instruction to students within the Paralegal Certificate program during the 2022 Spring Semester. Courses may include:
  • Introduction to Substantive Law (LGS130)
  • Family Law (LGS131)
  • Law Office Management (LGS132)
  • Legal Research and Writing (LGS133)
  • Real Estate, Mortgages, and Landlord-Tenant Law (LGS134)
  • Civil Litigation (LGS135)
  • Estate Planning, Wills, Trusts, and Probate Procedures (LGS136)
  • Contracts, Business Organizations, and Transactions (LGS137)
  • Criminal Law and Procedures (LGS138)
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Instruction in both traditional (on-campus, in-person) and non-traditional learning modes (Remote-Live Stream, Hybrid, Online, Hy-flex).
  2. Selection and development of appropriate materials for class use.
  3. Assessment of student performance, including submission of final grades in a timely fashion.
  4. Maintenance of appropriate attendance and student records.
  5. Be available to students when mutually convenient.



Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in appropriate discipline or Juris Doctorate and extensive law office experience.
  2. Strong communication skills.
  3. College teaching experience, preferably in a community college setting.


ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience teaching online using Moodle or a similar Learning Management System (LMS), such as Blackboard or Canvas.
  2. Evidence of innovative use of evolving instructional technologies in the classroom and use of learning management systems.
  3. Experience, appreciation for, and commitment to working in a global, multicultural academic setting.
  4. Appreciation for and commitment to the mission and the goals of a community college.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION : Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay scale. Part-time, non-benefited MCCC Unit position.
