Position Description

Performs executive, administrative duties concerning various aspects of operational management in support of the Service Plus philosophy and mission of Texas Tech.

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Institutional Advancement at TTUHSC is responsible for developing and executing effective fundraising strategies that align with the vision of TTUHSC while helping meet the goals of the University and schools.

Major/Essential Functions

Work with the Vice President (VP) of External Relations (ER) and the TTUHSC President to strategically define fundraising priorities and goals while actively engaging in development related activities and operations.

Develop and lead policy related to infrastructure and serving as the strategic operations officer.

Provide comprehensive leadership and oversight for all fundraising operations support including annual and major gifts, grants, stewardship and recognition.

Strategically lead, guide, and support a motivated and diverse team focused on major gifts, stewardship, donor communication, alumni relations and grateful patients.

Develop and execute effective fundraising strategies to include identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts reflective of a comprehensive advancement approach.

Strategically facilitate the development of a robust pipeline of major gift prospects through the supervision and support of major gift officers.

Oversee support of the development of prosperous portfolios and ensuring major gift officers effectively manage the portfolios to assure prospects move through the donor engagement process.

Direct and manage the operations, infrastructure, strategy and policy of all major gift fundraising, including individual fundraising efforts like planned giving, in addition to corporate and foundation relations and all campaigns.

Ability to carry a limited portfolio of principal gift prospects to meet fundraising goals.

Outline clear annual goals, manage solicitation activities and oversee the timely tracking and acknowledgment of all major gift donors and prospects.

Mentor and support development professionals to secure high-level gifts that result from meaningful donor engagement strategies.

Serve as a resource for the President, deans and other members of TTUHSC leadership on fundraising operations, infrastructure, strategy and policy matters.

Supporting the facilitation of relationships between alumni, external stakeholders and donors with the University’s leadership, deans, faculty, staff, volunteers and students.

Effectively develop and communicate strategic initiatives from the VP of ER and the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement (IA) to fundraisers.

Act as a champion for TTUHSC IA, establishing strong relationships with University partners across the campus and the system, sharing accomplishments and interpreting development’s purpose, strategy, and value externally.

Provide creative solutions to complex solicitations and relevant experience while remaining current with evolving trends in philanthropy.

Create a team environment, motivate team members and cultivate productive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Lead the TTUHSC IA team with the TTUHSC shared values of kindhearted, integrity, one team, visionary and beyond service.

Establish clear performance goals, objectives, performance standards and metrics for assessment as part of managing the frontline fundraising team.

Serve as a resource to develop prospect strategies and offer new approaches and techniques.

Create plans for professional development pathways for staff to enhance skills and support retention.

Develop and administer policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and IA.

Oversee financial and budget operations of the department.

Contribute to the overall success of the University by performing other duties as assigned.

Serve as the liaison with the TTU System IA Office, ensuring alignment of policies and operations.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree

Experience in higher education

Demonstrated experience and technical knowledge in a variety of fundraising operations, infrastructure, strategy, and policy areas, especially prospect management, sponsored programs, planned giving, corporate and/ or foundation relations, annual giving and grateful patients.

Proven track record in raising major gifts of more than $25,000, or successful management of a team responsible for raising major gifts.

Operational and strategic leadership experience in support of a multi-year comprehensive campaign in higher education, health sciences or similar preferred.

Pay Statement

Required Qualifications
