The University of Memphis Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music seeks a collaborative, highly organized, strategic thinker to serve in the position of Recruitment and Enrollment Coordinator. The Recruitment and Enrollment Coordinator provides collaborative leadership and support for the recruitment and admission of prospective undergraduate and graduate students, including underrepresented and international students. The person in this position has high-level oversight and support related to recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and marketing for the School of Music, working with faculty to cultivate and develop new and existing relationships with prospective students. Key to this charge will be focusing on student engagement, belonging, recruitment, retention, and strategic growth. The position reports directly to the Director of the School of Music.

General Responsibilities: 

  • Lead a team that formulates, develops, and implements recruitment and retention strategies in collaboration with the SoM director, faculty, and other staff.
  • Assists in the creation of enrollment policies for prospective music majors.
  • Provide high-quality interaction with students and families while addressing their administrative and artistic requests and needs; Serve as administrative liaison and respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, prospective students, and others.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, data-driven, enrollment management plan.
  • Gather and analyze enrollment data to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Provide leadership for the school’s communication for admissions, scholarships, and awards.
  • Assist with the SoM’s marketing and communications strategies in collaboration with the SoM Marketing & Communications Officer.
  • Maintain applicant contact throughout the application and decision-making process in coordination with the program managers for undergraduate and graduation studies.
  • Work closely with faculty and staff to arrange on- and off-campus visits, auditions, and interviews
  • Actively participates in the planning and coordination of auditions days, conferences, college fairs, outreach programs and summer festivals.
  • Responsible for working collaboratively with several staff members and supervising student workers.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A degree in the creative arts, music, or arts education field preferred.
  • Three years of admissions experience preferred
  • One year of experience supervising one or more employees preferred

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Outstanding communication, organizational, and dynamic interpersonal skills.
  • Significant knowledge of computer technology, customer relationship management (CRM) and database applications used in the admissions and scholarship processes (e.g. email marketing and SMS communications
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work closely and effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to engage externally and internally at all times with professionalism, diplomacy sound judgment and initiative, particularly as it relates to handling sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Project management and event planning preferred.
  • Experience creating data-driven enrollment management plan preferred.

  • This position requires domestic travel and work outside the typical workday, including, at times, evenings and weekends.
