THE DEPARTMENT : Communication Disorders and Sciences is housed in a new building with excellent research and clinical equipment (Speech and Swallow Labs, Endoscopy, Nasometer, iPads, VisiPitch, AAC devices, etc.). It is home to nearly 250 students, both graduate and undergraduate, and offers research lab space and an audiology suite. Faculty are engaged in research and other scholarly activities at the local, state, and national levels. Mentoring in the development of a funded research agenda is also available. The department has an established history of inter-professional education and is committed to expanding these opportunities for teaching and learning. The department is housed in a new building with state-of-the-art research and clinical equipment. Our program emphasizes experiential learning and is committed to the theory-to-practice model of teaching. Faculty members are expected to have a commitment to inclusive excellence, equity, inclusion, diversity and social justice; a desire to contribute to a culture of inclusivity and diversity through teaching, scholarship, and service; the ability to provide leadership in teaching, research, or service toward building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment; a desire to work with students from diverse backgrounds; commitment to improving access to higher education for all students regardless of background, and commitment to educating students to become global citizens. Major Responsibilities
This is a 10-month full-time tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor or associate professor (depending on qualification) with responsibilities to include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, research, clinical supervision, academic advisement, and service.

Please note: candidates may be considered for the higher academic rank based on additional years of teaching, clinical practice experience and clinical supervision experience beyond the minimum qualification. Also considered will be the candidate’s record of intellectual inquiry; research or creative work that has made a significant contribution to the discipline. A candidate who may currently be at the associate rank will be considered,. Functional and Supervisory Relationships
  • Reports to the academic department chair
  • Works closely with department faculty
Required Qualifications
Education:
Ph.D. in speech-language pathology/communication disorders or related field. A doctoral candidate with all but dissertation ( ABD ) status will be considered with work initiated on dissertation and designated completion date within 12 months of start date.

Certification:
Hold or be eligible for American Speech-Language-Hearing Association ( ASHA ) Certificate of Clinical Competence – Speech-Language Pathology ( CCC - SLP ) Preferred Qualifications
Licensure:
Hold or be eligible for New York State license from the Office of the Professions to practice as a speech-language pathologist.

Experience:
At least one year of teaching experience, two years clinical practice experience, and one year of clinical supervision experience.

Expertise:
Expertise in the areas of child language, phonology, articulation, and cultural and linguistic diversity is highly preferred, but all areas of expertise will be considered. Multiple areas of expertise are preferred. EEO Statement
