Gordon College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in psychology at the assistant or associate professor level. Clinical psychologists or other psychologists with strong research programs (for example, in social psychology) are particularly encouraged to apply. Position to begin August 2022.  Rank will be commensurate with experience.

 

Gordon College is ideally located on Boston’s North Shore, a beautiful coastal area with easy access to Boston. The Psychology Department, housed in the Ken Olsen Science Center on campus, offers outstanding colleagues—faculty who are committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service, along with motivated students who are eager to engage with their professors. Expertise of current faculty members includes developmental, clinical, and cognitive psychology as well as neuroscience.  Students are prepared for graduate work in psychology and related fields, and/or employment in social service professions, education, public policy, law, business, and a variety of other fields of service.

 

We look for someone with a Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree with excellent teaching skills and appropriate experience who will contribute to the department, the College, and the discipline. Potential courses include Counseling Theories & Practice, Personality Theories, Social Psychology, Research Methods, and a course in an area of expertise or interest (e.g., Cross-Cultural, Law & Psychology, Health Psychology). Faculty members are expected to maintain vigorous professional involvement that contributes to the discipline as well as the department.

In addition, we seek someone who has:

  • Completed their doctorate by the time of appointment
  • A strong commitment to the Christian mission of the college
  • Collaborative skills that cross departmental and disciplinary boundaries
