Job Description:

The Graduate Education program at Curry College invites applications for a part-time associate lecturer to teach in our Master of Education teacher preparation program in the areas of Elementary Education (Grades 1-6) and Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8) with emphasis on current literacy-based content and strategies. 

The successful candidate should possess a significant knowledge of and expertise in content and pedagogical practices in literacy learning and instruction; theories, methodologies, state and national literacy standards; functional literacy skills and developmental trajectories for a range of diverse learners and how culture impacts reading and writing acquisition.  The candidate should also be able to demonstrate the effectiveness of research-based strategies to support student's literacy learning with the understanding of the relationship between reading, written language, listening, and speaking. Further expertise in literacy assessments and instructional practices that meet individual differences, and the needs of all learners is required.

The class will be held in-person on (Wednesday evenings) beginning on (3/23/22) through the week of (5/11/23) and will be held in a hybrid-hi-flex teaching environment.

 

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of a master's degree or doctoral degree in Education and with Literacy content is required.
  • Extensive experience working in public schools or other appropriate setting as a literacy instructor or reading specialist at the PreK-8 level is required.
  • Experience working with pre-service teacher candidates and or novice educators is preferred.
  • College-level teaching experience or work with traditional age or adult learners both in-person or remotely is desirable.
  • The candidate should possess expertise in teaching in on-line, hybrid/hi-flex and in-person environments. Experience and expertise using on-line teaching management systems is strongly preferred.
