Position Summary:
The primary goals of this position are to carry out the roles of the Program Director, in their absence, working closely with the Director and other Center for Community Engagement (CCE) staff to support the day-to-day operations of CCE and to promote positive institutional impact locally through community engagement programming and connections among Middlebury College students, faculty, and community partners. In particular, this position plays a key role in overseeing and advising much of the CCE student-facing programs.

The person in this position may be able to do some hours each week remotely. In-person presence is required for student-facing programs on campus. Some night/weekend needs will occur.

Essential Functions:
Offer is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
This is a term position with the earliest anticipated start date of December 2021 for a maximum of 12-weeks.

1. Work closely with the Director and other CCE staff to support the day-to-day operations of the CCE , particularly those related to preparation for and launch of spring 2022 initiatives.2. Particular attention and responsibility for the following areas:a. Highest priority: MAlt (Middlebury Alternative Break Trips): including managing and advising preparation and launch of 5 domestic travel trips approximately 60 student participants. Responsible for risk management, budget, and logistical oversight of the trips program.
b. Oversee the Community Engagement Organizations (CEO) advising and CEO and CCE staff’s advising of the various respective student service organizations and Flex Fund (i.e., work with students on policies, events, budgetary needs, risk management, leader trainings, attend meetings, and more); and specifically advise Juntos, a student organization that is a migrant solidarity network.
c. Work with administrative coordinator to oversee the CCE student staff program (i.e., recruitment, hiring, scheduling, training, and assignment of responsibilities).

General Responsibilities:
3. Assist with preparing for and/or carrying out one-time events and activities that occur during winter term and spring semester (e.g., MLK Day of Service, Public Service Leadership Awards, etc.).4. Participate in data entry efforts recording student participation and interactions.5. Work with Communications Intern and Asst. Dir. to communicate volunteer requests, events, etc.6. Work across campus offices (e.g., Events Management, Catering, Reprographics, Media Services, Residential Life, Compass, etc.) in advising, planning and carrying out CCE events and activities.7. Represent CCE at community meetings, as needed.8. Perform other related duties as needed.

Qualifications
Education:

Bachelor’s degree is required. 3-5 years of experience or master’s degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
As this individual will interact with a diverse range of students, faculty, staff, community partners, and community members, the following qualifications are required: excellent interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, flexibility, and ability to work with diverse populations.• It would be ideal to have experience in higher education/student affairs, and community engagement, specifically.• Understanding of and experience with issues of social justice and inter-cultural competency.• Excellent writing and English language skills required, ideally including ability to write and graphically design posters and other communications, including social media.• Excellent interpersonal skills, customer-service orientation and professional demeanor are essential, as this position interacts with both internal and external constituents.• Proven organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to work on and coordinate several projects at once.• Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team player, with individuals from a broad array of diverse backgrounds, while also contributing to create a collaborative environment.• Ability to solve problems quickly and creatively.• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and facility with multiple forms of social media (e.g., Facebook, Instagram).• Valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation, preferred. Will likely require some travel throughout Addison County.



Experience:
• Candidates who are familiar with both the College and Addison County, desirable.
