Department Summary

Position Summary
The Hosseinzadeh Lab integrates methods from computational biology, chemistry, and protein design to build novel computational and experimental tools for understanding and manipulating biological systems. Some exciting research areas in the lab are:

  • Predicting peptides behavior in solution by expanding the computational peptide design methods we previously developed
  • Designing novel functional proteins building upon our previous success in designing enzyme mimetics
  • Controlling cellular functions using small molecule signals

    The Postdoctoral Scholar will be responsible for conducting research and technical activities related to sponsored projects in the lab. The incumbent will conduct data analysis, collaborate on reporting findings and discoveries in written and verbal form, and assist in managing, maintaining, and providing technical expertise for Hosseinzadeh lab equipment, protocols, and programs.

    This is a full-time position that offers a great opportunity for performing highly interdisciplinary and cutting-edge research, career development through one-on-one mentorship, membership in a large scientific community (RosettaCommons) and a collaborative and vibrant research community (The Knight Campus), and involvement in setting up the culture of a newly established lab.

    For the purpose of acquiring additional professional skills needed to pursue a career path in the chosen field, this position will have a formal mentor plan.

    Minimum Requirements
  • PhD in biology, chemistry, computational biology, or related fields
  • One year of lab experience (biochemistry, molecular biology or related fields); OR coding experience in computational biology

    Professional Competencies
  • Demonstrated strong writing and presentation skills

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong academic record
  • Expertise in one of the following areas: Protein Design, Synthetic Biology (especially high throughput screening and NGS), or Computational Biology (especially ML/DL applications in biology or chemistry)
