Department Summary
The Department of Mathematics is an academic unit of the University of Oregon within the College of Arts and Sciences. The department is dedicated to education and research. It provides instruction at all levels of mathematics, from undergraduate required courses through an extensive graduate program leading to PhD in several specific areas of mathematics. The department has over 30 tenured/tenure-track faculty members who are actively involved in research and instruction; 5 postdoctoral scholars; approximately 20 career and pro-tempore instructors; over 65 Graduate Students/Employees (GEs) who teach lower division courses; and nearly 100 undergraduate student workers. The Department of Mathematics has over 300 undergraduate majors.

Position Summary
The mathematics pro-tempore instructor pool is for part-time, temporary, limited duration appointments not to exceed one year, but with the possibility of renewal for up to a total of three years. In limited circumstances, there is the possibility of renewal beyond three years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance. Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis. Screening of applications will take place as positions become available and continue until positions are filled.

Minimum Requirements
M.S. or M.A. in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics, or closely related field, and evidence of teaching ability.
