Department Summary
The Department of Linguistics, an academic unit of the College of Arts and Sciences, provides undergraduate and graduate degrees. The department is comprised of 13 full time professors and instructors, 27 graduate employees, one administrative position and one staff member. There are 35 doctoral students, 30 masters students and 100 undergraduate majors.

Position Summary
The Department of Linguistics is seeking qualified applicants for its open pro tem instructor pool. We are particularly interested in screening for instructors of functional and cognitive linguistics as well as second language acquisition and foreign language teaching methods. There are no positions open at present, but if a position does open over the next year, we will seek to fill it first from the applicants already in the pool. Pool positions are limited duration appointments potentially renewable up to a total of three years. In limited circumstances, there is the possibility of renewal beyond three years based on programmatic need, funding, and performance.

Breakdown of Responsibilities: a full time instructor should spend 90% of time on teaching and 10% on service.

Minimum Requirements
Ph.D. in Linguistics or a related field required for instructional positions.
