Can you see the forest through the trees?  Do you see the big picture while squinting to find the smallest details?  Our Director (or Executive Director) of Business Administration and Finance will oversee the day to day human resources, business affairs, training, compliance, and fiscal accountability. The Director (or Executive Director) of ESS Business Administration and Finance reports to the Associate Vice President for ESS and provides oversight for the seven (7) essential business functions that make up the ESS unit. This position leads ESS in development, implementation, and procedural accountability for financial accounts (including budgeting and spending), human resource management actions and decision-making, and unit-level compliance to institutional, system, state, or federal agencies.

 

ESS fundamentally supports a broader narrative.  Satisfying enrollment goals and student service needs are really our greatest priorities, so our Business Administration and Finance colleague must comprehend the way in which we work every day. Responsible for a total operating budget in excess of $17M and 110+ FTE, this teammate will strategically leverage ESS resources to positively influence the global outcomes that our departments produce which changes the lives of our students and the entire Rebel community.

 

The Director (or Executive Director) is a highly valued, strategic thought-contributor on the ESS leadership team who plays a vital role in strategic decision-making, operational strategy, fiscal planning, and procedural accountability.  This position will regularly demonstrate the spirit of the ESS Vision, Mission, and Core Values statement that defines the attitudinal position across the unit through the work and collective contributions. Many people can manage a spreadsheet, follow directions, or develop a process, but our preferred candidate has more.  Our preferred candidate brings dynamic tools to lead our talented team in discussions on ways to reengineer the impossible into possible, the difficult into standard, and the unimagined into best practice.  Our new teammate will be an essential piece in the growth of ESS with the sense of strategy and creativity to find a way to get our team everything it needs to change the lives of everyone we meet – every day.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university. 

Required experience for Director-Level Role: 5-7 years’ experience in finance and business operations, 2 of which include supervisory responsibilities.

Required experience for Executive Director-Level Role:  5-7 years’ experience in finance and business operations, 2 of which include supervisory responsibilities, and 1-3 years management experience managing finance and business operations.  Preference for experience managing finance and business operations in a higher education setting. 

Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred experience with budgeting for an organization with multiple units and budgeting across multiple funding sources with diversity in complexity, timing, and in compliance with local, system, state, or federal compliance procedures.

 

SALARY RANGE

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
