The Associate Athletics Director / Facility Management will serve
as a key member of the Virginia Tech Athletics Facilities and Event
Operations Team. This position will report directly to the
Executive Associate Athletics Director and will work in conjunction
with the Associate Athletics Director / Operations and the
Associate Athletics Director / Facility Maintenance & Capital
Projects. The Associate Athletics Director / Facilities Management
will be responsible for all aspects of facility management,
including but not limited to: master scheduling, budgeting,
function and enhancement of Virginia Tech Athletics Facilities. The
position will have oversight of facility directors as well as
Athletics' housekeeping staff. The position will assume Event
Operations responsibilities for select sports. This position will
also work in conjunction with the University’s Facilities
Management Department to coordinate the upkeep and enhancement of
facilities; tracking and monitoring of University work order costs,
along with maintenance requests; and assist with Departmental
capital projects. This position will be expected to provide a
first-class venue experience for student-athletes and guests.
Master's degree and/or bachelor's degree with related
Significant progressive experience managing facilities and event
Experience supervising, hiring and training employees.
Experience scheduling multiple venues and groups.
Demonstrated proficiency drafting policy and procedure, including
but not limited to safety and security measures.
Experience training and managing event staff.
Financial management skills and involvement with capital facility
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with a diverse
group of people including administrators, faculty, staff, students,
and external constituents, both written and verbally.
Proven ability to cultivate positive working relationships, foster
teamwork, and support collaboration.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
Experience managing intercollegiate or professional athletics
Degree in sport management, event management, property management,
engineering or like field of study.
Experience collaborating with campus facility management
Commensurate with experience.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal
conviction check as well as documentation of COVID-19 vaccination
