The Department of African American Studies at Wayne State University is hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor.

A Ph.D. conferred in African American Studies or Ethnic Studies is expected by the time of appointment. The department strongly prefers candidates who have a clear and compelling independent research agenda in the social sciences with a primary focus on Africa and/or the Caribbean. Duties include undergraduate teaching, research, and service. The candidate should be prepared to teach the department’s introductory courses along with higher-level electives.
