Job Summary:

The OMAI/FW Digital Media Manager (DMM) is a digital story-teller and an expert at managing online communities. The DMM is generally responsible for planning, developing, implementing and managing the overall digital marketing strategy for OMAI/FW. They are a multi-hyphenate creative in their own right, with a diverse skill set in photography, videography, editing, creative direction, and social media campaign building. As a documentarian, the DMM's main responsibility is to translate the daily dynamic ongoings and members of the OMAI/FW community onto every digital media platform, specifically in efforts to recruit future FW Scholars, engage and highlight FW alumni, and elevate OMAI/FW optics as an international leader in Hip Hop in Higher Education. In addition, they are responsible for managing, guiding and training content creators and media student intern positions on their team.

As a Multimedia Media Designer at UW-Madison, the DMM designs and develops multimedia solutions and materials in collaboration with other content creators, adhering to project timelines and developing and posting content for a specified unit in support of visually and contextually communicating messages aligned with unit strategy.

Education:

Required
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant academic area (Arts, Fine Arts, Communications, Education, Theater, etc.). Degree or significant coursework and professional experience related to Hip Hop, Urban Arts, or Arts Education, Digital Media, institutional diversity programming and research, issues of diversity, inclusion, and/or organizational change highly preferred.

Qualifications:

Required:
- 3+ years of strong experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop and Illustrator
- 3+ years of strong experience with photography, videography, creative direction and Final Cut Pro
- HTML/CSS knowledge preferred
- Understanding of the latest web design and professional social media trends and standards;
- Familiarity with logo and brand design
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Self motivation and proven ability to work independently
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure; the ability to multitask and to work collaboratively
- Comfortable working evenings and on weekends (particularly to be present at 60%+ of OMAI/FW ongoing events and initiatives on a weekly basis)
- Up to two (2) years experience strongly preferred working on the academic achievement of underrepresented populations, issues of campus climate and inclusion, strategic diversity planning, and/or other related matters, preferably in higher education
- Experience developing curricular and co-curricular art engagement practices and evidence of art outreach/community engagement
- Enthusiastic belief in the mission/vision of OMAI evidenced in a passion for writing performance, teaching, and the use of art as a medium to affect positive dialogue across-the-board engagement

Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of previous design and web editing experience in a professional setting, especially in a cultural arts education setting
- Frontend web design and coding experience
- Familiarity with Prezi and Canva
- A deep knowledge of and passion for Hip Hop, Urban Arts, Youth Spoken Word and Culturally Relevant Pedagogy
