The College of Education & Human Services at the University of
North Florida (UNF) is seeking applications for an innovative
assistant professor with expertise in the clinical preparation of
teachers. This person will work with undergraduate
and graduate teacher preparation programs, supervise pre-intern and
internship candidates, serve on and possibly chair dissertation
committees, assist in the development of a clinically-based
education program, and other instructional duties (determined in
accordance with the needs of the Department and the College and the
faculty’s areas of expertise). This faculty member will join an
interdisciplinary team promoting clinically based teacher
preparation with local school district partners. Active
participation in research and scholarship within teacher education
and or foundations in teacher education, resulting in reputable
peer-reviewed publications and presentations, is expected.
Involvement in relevant professional service at the local,
regional, and/or national level is also expected.

Job Function:
- Teach undergraduate and graduate teacher preparation courses:
- Collaborate with local teachers in schools who mentor preservice teachers;
- Maintain an active research agenda in teacher education and/or foundations of teacher education and publish and present in scholarly peer-reviewed journals and conferences;
- Seek external funding in support of scholarly activity in teacher education;
- Serve on and potentially chair doctoral dissertation committees in the Ed.D: C&I or Ed.D: Leadership programs;
- Participate in program development and accreditation processes;
- Serve on faculty committees at the department, college, and university levels;
- Provide service within the University, to state and local educational agencies, and to relevant professional organizations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate by the start date in Curriculum and Instruction, Teacher Education or field related to teaching and learning;
- At least three years of successful teaching experience in P-12 classrooms;
- Established research agenda in clinical preparation teacher education or related foundations of education topics;
- Commitment to maintaining a culture of justice, equity, diversity, and in work with preservice and in-service teachers, colleagues, and other stakeholders;
- Commitment to mentor and coach teacher candidates;
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative; and
- Evidence of successful experience working with adult learners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience seeking and working external funding to support research, service, and/or teacher professional development activities;
- Successful experience with mentoring teacher candidates during clinical experiences and internships;
- Familiarity with state-level and CAEP accreditation standards, policies, and procedures;
- Experience building and maintaining relationships for university-school partnerships; and
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with instructional technologies to support grades K-12 instruction and course design at the university level.
